FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GENERAL QUESTIONS
HOW DID THE IDEA FOR THE INSTITUTE COME ABOUT?
The institute was set up so that we could help more people. As we helped each individual, we realized that helping on a larger scale would benefit more people with the same difficulties.
DOES THE INSTITUTE FOCUS ONLY ON THE BRAZILIAN COMMUNITY?
No, we’re open to helping all communities.
We’ll help everyone who needs it, but we’ll be more welcoming to the Brazilian community because most of the volunteers speak English and Portuguese, which makes the Brazilian community more welcoming.
VOLUNTEERS QUESTIONS
HOW DO I VOLUNTEER FOR A PROJECT?
Send an email to volunteer@umbandacharity.org.au or fill in our form on the VOLUNTEER page.
Once we have received your email, we will contact you.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF HOURS I NEED TO DEDICATE TO THE PROJECT?
Each project has a specific workload, so we suggest assessing your availability to take part in your chosen project.
SPONSORS QUESTIONS
HOW CAN I MAKE A DONATION AS A SPONSOR?
In order to create and run our projects, we need financial resources to fund the infrastructure (e.g. website and costs of each project). As a non-profit organization, our income will be generated through donations and low-cost contributions from project participants.
Therefore, any company or person interested in sponsoring us or a specific project would be very welcome.
Please contact us at partner@umbandacharity.org.au.
CAN MY DONATION BE DEDUCTED FROM MY INCOME TAX?
We still don’t have the option for donations to be deducted from income tax because we are a non-profit institute, but we are not a charitable foundation, which allows donations to be deducted from income tax.
DONATION QUESTIONS
HOW CAN I MAKE A DONATION?
Donations can be made on a recurring or one-off basis; our donation form is available on the DONATION page.
HOW CAN I TRACK THE DESTINATION OF DONATIONS?
To maintain transparency, we will publish how much we raise and each project with its costs in our half-yearly reports.
